Tips for Parent Volunteers
- 1.Apply 2 years before P1. Most schools open PV applications in Jan–Apr, and you need to complete 40 hours before registration closes. If your child enters P1 in 2028, start volunteering in 2026.
- 2.Slots are limited. Popular and competitive schools have very few PV vacancies. Contact the school office early — slots can fill up within days of opening.
- 3.Only one parent needs to volunteer. Either parent can fulfil the 40-hour requirement. Volunteering includes activities like helping at events, library duties, and reading programmes.
- 4.PV gives Phase 2B priority — not a guarantee. If Phase 2B is still oversubscribed, balloting applies. Having PV status significantly improves your chances but does not guarantee admission.
