6 Tips to Maximise Your P1 Chances

Practical advice from distance strategy to multi-year data analysis. What experienced parents wish they knew earlier.

1

Start early — 2–3 years before P1

Research schools, visit open houses, and if you plan to volunteer (Phase 2B), apply and complete your 40 hours well before the registration window.

2

Distance matters most in Phase 2C

Living within 1 km significantly improves your chances. Check historical balloting data for schools you're considering.

3

Research multi-year data, not just the latest

A school that didn't ballot last year might ballot this year. Look at 3–5 years of data to spot trends.

4

Singapore Citizen beats PR in every ballot

Within the same distance band, SC applicants are prioritised over PRs. If you're eligible for citizenship, consider timing.

5

Only register at one school per phase

You may only register at one school during each phase. If unsuccessful, you automatically proceed to the next phase.

6

Registered address must match during registration

Your child's registered residential address must be the same as the one used for registration. Moving after registration does not change your distance priority.
