P1 Registration Phases Explained

All 6 phases from Phase 1 (Siblings) through Phase 3 (International), with eligibility, balloting rules, and documents for each.

Phase 1Siblings

Child has a sibling currently studying in the school.

All SC & PR with sibling

Balloting: Guaranteed admission

Documents required:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • Sibling's student pass or school report book
Pro tip

If you have an older child already enrolled, Phase 1 is guaranteed. No balloting, no competition.

Phase 2AAlumni & School Connections

Parent is a School Advisory/Management Committee member, an ex-student (alumni), or a staff member of the school.

Balloting: Rare — only if oversubscribed

Documents required:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • Proof of parent's alumni status or SAC/SMC appointment letter
  • Staff appointment letter (if applicable)
Pro tip

If either parent is an alumnus of the school, you qualify for Phase 2A.

Phase 2BCommunity & Parent Volunteers

Parent is a Parent Volunteer (PV) who completed 40+ hours at the school, or an active community leader.

SC > PR1km > 1–2km > 2km+

Balloting: Yes — by citizenship then distance

Documents required:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • PV appointment letter from school
  • Community leadership appointment letter (if applicable)

Start volunteering 2–3 years before your child's P1. You need 40 hours BEFORE the registration window.

Phase 2CGeneral Registration

Open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents not admitted in earlier phases.

SC > PRHome-school distance priority

Balloting: Most commonly balloted phase

Documents required:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • NRIC or passport
  • Proof of residential address
Pro tip

Distance matters most in Phase 2C. Living within 1km significantly improves your chances.

Phase 2C SuppRemaining Vacancies

Singapore Citizens not yet registered in any earlier phase.

Balloting: Yes — if oversubscribed

Documents required:

  • Child's birth certificate
  • NRIC or passport
  • Proof of residential address
Pro tip

This phase is for citizens only. PRs who did not secure a place in Phase 2C cannot register here.

Phase 3International Students

International students (non-citizens, non-PRs).
