P1 Registration 2026: What You Need to Know

P1 Registration 2026 is the process by which parents enrol their children (born in 2020) for Primary 1 starting January 2027. MOE Singapore manages this annual exercise through a phased system that prioritises children with closer ties to the school.

Use our live P1 Countdown timer to see exactly how many days remain until each phase opens.

2026 Registration Phase Schedule

Documents Required for P1 Registration

  • All phases: Child's birth certificate + Singapore citizenship certificate (if applicable)
  • Phase 1: Proof of sibling's enrolment (school letter or report book)
  • Phase 2A(1) / 2A(2): Alumni membership certificate or appointment letter from school
  • Phase 2B: Volunteer hours log signed by school principal; or community leader appointment letter
  • Phase 2C: Home address proof (utility bill or property tax statement)

Distance Priority in Phase 2C

When Phase 2C is oversubscribed, MOE uses home-to-school distance as a tiebreaker:

  • 1 km or less: Highest priority
  • 1–2 km: Second priority
  • Beyond 2 km: General ballot

Use the Schools Near Me tool to find schools within 1 km of your home.

How to Maximise Your Child's Chances

1. Start Volunteering Now for Phase 2B (2026)

If you are targeting a school through Phase 2B, you need to complete 40 volunteer hours before the registration exercise. Applications for parent volunteers typically open 2–3 years in advance. Check the Parent Volunteer Guide for schools currently accepting applications.

2. Check Balloting History

Not all phases at all schools result in a ballot. Use SGSchool's school profiles to see which phases at your target school have historically been oversubscribed — and by how much.

3. Have a Backup Plan

Identify 2–3 acceptable schools, not just your dream school. If Phase 2C balloting is unlucky, you may end up further down the list than expected. Having nearby alternatives reduces stress.

4. Check Phase Eligibility Now

Use the P1 Phase Checker to find out which phase you qualify for — and plan your approach accordingly.

What Happens If Your Child Is Unplaced?

If your child does not receive a place after Phase 2C Supplementary, MOE will work with you to find a suitable school. No child is left without a school place. MOE typically contacts unplaced families in September to offer placement options.
