2
May – Jun
Applications Open
Submit applications through the centralised DSA-Sec portal. You may list up to 3 school-talent area choices.
3
Jul – Aug
Trials & Interviews
Schools conduct selection exercises — auditions, sports trials, interviews, or portfolio reviews.
4
Sep
DSA Offers
Schools extend Confirmed Offers (CO), Wait List (WL), or unsuccessful notifications to applicants.
5
Oct
PSLE Examination
All students sit for PSLE regardless of DSA outcome. Results are used for reporting, not placement.

Tips for DSA Success

1

Build a portfolio early

Document achievements, certificates, competition results, and training records well before applications open. Schools value sustained commitment over last-minute preparation.

2

Apply strategically

You can list up to 3 school-talent area choices. Research each school's strengths and choose talent areas where your child has genuine ability and passion.

3

Prepare for trials

Trials and interviews are the most important part of DSA. Ensure your child is well-practiced. Some schools also conduct academic aptitude tests alongside talent assessments.

4

Research school culture

DSA commits your child to the school for 4 years. Visit Open Houses, talk to current students, and understand the school's values beyond just its DSA track record.

5

Understand the commitment

Accepting a DSA offer means your child must enrol in that school — even if PSLE results would qualify for a more competitive posting. Discuss this carefully as a family.

6

Check IP vs Express pathway

IP schools let students skip O-levels and go directly to A-levels or IB. This suits academically strong students. The Express pathway offers more flexibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DSA in Singapore?
DSA (Direct School Admission) is a scheme that allows students to gain admission to secondary schools based on specific talents or achievements outside of PSLE results. Schools assess students through interviews, trials, or portfolio reviews before PSLE results are released.
When does DSA application open in 2026?
DSA applications typically open in May 2026 and close in June 2026. Selection exercises (trials, interviews, auditions) run from July to August. Offers are made before PSLE results, usually in September.
Does DSA guarantee admission even with a low PSLE score?
Yes — if your child gets and accepts a DSA offer, they are admitted regardless of PSLE score. However, they still sit PSLE and the results are used for school reporting.
Can my child still take PSLE if they get a DSA offer?
Yes. All students still sit for PSLE regardless of DSA. However, students who accept a DSA offer commit to enroll in that school — they cannot use PSLE results to transfer to another school during Secondary 1 to 3.
What if my child gets multiple DSA offers?
Your child must choose only one offer to accept. All other offers lapse. Think carefully — DSA commits your child to that school for Secondary 1 to 3 at minimum.
